Registrations are now open for our summer courses!

We are glad to finally open registration for our summer courses!

Based on the interest expressed through our latest survey, we decided to run 3 courses during summer 2014. These will all be run on Saturdays between the 26th of July and the 23rd of August at Imperial College London, on the South Kensington Campus.

To register for one or more courses, please complete the form below: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1-nZFPKzBbzhi2axLjsJbceXbS9F-d0oxyApLQFe4ln8/viewform

  • Robotics 101 - - Saturdays, 10:00-12:00 - £200 per participant. We designed this course to be an ideal introduction to the basics of electronics and programming. The students will be given all the components to start building a robot, including an Arduino Leonardo board, an H-bridge, d.c. motors, capacitors, touch sensors etc. By the end of the 5 sessions, you will have a functioning robot which is able to interact with its surrounding environment and you will be able to keep improving it in your own time.
This course provides a basic introduction to Arduino programming, but if you are interested in learning additional programming please sign up for the C++ course!
  • Introduction to Game Development - Saturdays, 13:00-15:00 - £100 per participant. If you've ever found yourself bored playing games, or interested in how they are made then this is the course for you. We will teach you how to make a 3D space shooter game over the course of several sessions, suitable for PC or MAC. As well as being immensely fun, this course will introduce many of the basics of C# programming and the Unity engine which is currently used in many commercial games. Whilst the game needs to remain simple; students have the opportunity to get really creative and can continue expanding their game after the course is complete. Suitable for beginners and those with limited programming experience.
  • Introduction to C++ - Saturdays, 16:00-18:00 - £100 per participant. This course will teach you the basics of C programming, helping you to set up an environment and write your first codes. We will start from the classic “Hello World!” program and move to variables, “if-else” statements, “for” and “while” loops, inputs and output, and functions. By the end of the course, you will be able to use the power of programming to tackle some of the problems that we will challenge you with and apply your skills to an infinite range of situations.

During our courses, we will always work on real technology, avoiding any simplifications that would give a misleading foundation to our students' learning. Our courses cover advanced topics, but thanks to a low student-to-tutor ratio and experienced, patient demonstrators we can provide individual support. We are happy to provide extension material to encourage high achieving students and follow them in projects that they might want to undertake.
